DISABILITY MAINSTREAMING

DISABILITY MAINSTREAMING

People with disabilities are integral part of our society therefore we promote an element of ‘inclusion’ in all our efforts so that we do not miss out representation of any person because of their disability, gender or any other differences. People with disabilities can be included in mainstream development if opportunity and facilitation is provided according to their needs and demand. CHIP has developed a model approach on inclusion of people with disabilities in mainstream development. Under this model, opportunities are provided to PWDs to get included in:

1. Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities in Health
Opportunities to get equitable access to medical facilities, assistive devices, reduce dependency, gain confidence and live an independent life.

2. Inclusion of Person with Disabilities in Education
Opportunities to get equitable access to learning and academic education through mainstream and special education systems.

3. Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities Livelihoods
Get engaged in livelihood activities and get control over their earning and its utilization.

4. Community Organizations and Community Development
Express needs and demand of people with and without disabilities and participate in joint problem solving.

5. Social, Public and Recreational Activities
Get an equal access to social, public and recreational activities and benefit from public facilities such as disability certificates or special computerized national identity cards.
